Mary’s Place By The Sea Co-Founder Michele Gannon is Today’s Honoree

While recovering from an illness (not cancer) in January of 2009, Michele realized how difficult it is for women who are dealing with cancer to take care of their families and homes while still trying to maintain their own physical and emotional health. She wanted to establish a place where women with cancer can find healing and respite.

The experience led her to found Mary’s Place by the Sea with her friend, Maria McKeon (co-founder), less than six months later. The Vision of Mary’s Place by the Sea is a world where every woman with cancer has a PLACE to feel whole. Mary’s Place by the Sea is a respite home for women who are receiving treatment for cancer.

Co-founded by Michele and Maria, Mary’s Place provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massage, nutrition education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation, expressive writing, and yoga ALL AT NO COST.

Mary’s Place by the Sea is not a medical facility with medical staff. They offer integrative services to women with cancer and provide rest and support during this challenging time in their lives. They are empowered with knowledge that will aid them on their road to healing. Since 2009, 10,000 women with cancer have become “guests” of Mary’s Place by the Sea.

All services are provided at NO COST to guests, thanks to the generosity of corporations, individual supporters and third-party fundraising events.
