The First Female Paratrooper Dr. Bennis Blue is Today’s Honoree

First LT. Bennis M. Blue made history as  the first female paratrooper ever to be assigned to the US Army’s 82nd Airborne. Now,  Dr. Bennis Blue is a prolific writer and a dedicated scholar. This dynamic Native American author inspires many with her writing and with her teaching at the university level.

As a writer, her work revived interest in the writings of Native American author Olivia Ward Bush Banks.  As a teacher, Dr. Blue shared her love of English with students throughout her brilliant academic career. This respected Army Veteran now enjoys life as a mother and grandmother.
