Federal Bar Association President Maria Z. Vathis is Today’s Honoree

Maria Z. Vathis of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP’s Chicago Office was installed as President of the Federal Bar Association on September 15, 2018 during the FBA’s
Annual Meeting & Convention in New York City. Vathis has been a member of the Federal Bar Association since the beginning of her legal career. She served as the Chicago Chapter President in 2011 and was heavily involved in planning the 2011 FBA Annual Convention. More recently, Vathis served on the national Board of Directors and as chair of several committees. She looks forward to continuing her service to the organization as one of the youngest presidents and as only the tenth female president in almost 100 years of the organization. Vathis’s term will focus on health, wellness, fitness and civility along with a focus on women in the law in March 2019 to coincide with  International Women’s Day.

Vathis has a diverse practice which concentrates on commercial litigation and class action defense. She handles litigation nationwide in both federal and state courts and represents fashion and retail clients from the United States and Europe. Vathis has appeared on Politics Tonight on WGN, The Opening Bell on WGN Radio and Sirott and Murciano on WLS-AM. She has also been featured in Thrive Global, Buzzfeed, GenHERation, and NCR Silver.
