For kids everywhere their questions will be answered in the new book BE PREPARED! The Frankie MacDonald Guide to Life, the Weather, and Everything. YouTube celebrity Frankie MacDonald and writer Sarah Sawler include stories from Frankie’s early years growing up with autism, along with facts about all things sunny, rainy, snowy, and stormy. It is filled with pictures, graphics and useful advice from Frankie, and will inspire children and adults to pay closer attention to weather reports and Be Prepared! The book has been reviewed by Autism Nova Scotia.
Frankie, who has always wanted to be a weather forecaster, uploaded his first YouTube video in 2009. Frankie rose to national recognition when he started writing posts on the Weather Network’s website. He predicted a Vancouver earthquake and was featured on the program Tosh.0, while BuzzFeed called his hurricane forecast, “the only forecast you need for Hurricane Isaac.”
Frankie’s videos have turned him into an “internet weather-broadcasting sensation” with hundreds of thousands of views for many of his videos. His YouTube channel has received more than 10 million views overall with substantial daily traffic helping grow that number. His forecasts have been picked up by the press worldwide, and he has given weather forecasts for the Nova radio network in Australia. He has also presented the weather on the CBC and has been featured in an online video series for Nova Scotia Power.
In 2017 Frankie fans began a Change.org petition to help him realize his dream to appear on Ellen, which currently has more than 30K signatures. Fans are also able to purchase a Frankie MacDonald action figure as well as a recently-released bobblehead. BE PREPARED!
