Kinship Center Co-Founder Carol Bishop is Today’s Honoree for Monday February 29th, 2016

CarolBishopIt was just over 30 years ago that Carol Bishop, LMFT and Carol Biddle, MSW co-founded California-based Kinship Center, an organization that helps children and families face and overcome life’s most difficult challenges.

Now part of Seneca Family of Agencies, Kinship Center is recognized throughout California and nationally as a critically important organization. Carol Bishop is Statewide Adoption Policy Director for Kinship Center responsible for policy and administration of the organization’s essential adoption work throughout the state . She has 44 years of experience in the field and more  than 30 years with the agency. Carol is also a nationally recognized leader in the field of permanency and adoptions. With so many roles, founder, leader, supervisor and an adoptions social worker, she’s provided counsel statewide – supporting all children who have been served aided by Kinship Center. The depth of the impact she’s had on families and children has been immense and is truly a blessing.  

Carol served for six years as President of the California Association of Adoption Agencies and remains active in the organization. She also serves on the national board of Voice for Adoption. Carol received a Congressional Angel in Adoption Award in 2006 and co-authored a chapter on siblings in kinship care for the book, Siblings in Adoption and Foster Care (2009). In conjunction with a five-year federal grant awarded to the Center for Adoption Support and Education, Carol is also one of two developers of a curriculum on national adoption competency standards, as well as a curriculum to achieve certification.

Kinship Center’s point of view is that every child deserves a family, and Carol has dedicated her professional life to meeting that goal.
