A native of Nashville, Tenn., Toni Carey is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications with concentrations in Public Relations and Advertising and minors in Marketing and Spanish. She also received a Master of Arts and Science degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. She has previously worked with Dye, VanMol & Lawrence Public Relations (Nashville, Tenn.), Avis Budget Group, Inc. (Parsippany, NJ) and PadillaCRT (formerly CRT/tanaka) (Norfolk, Va.).
Her passion for health and fitness led to the co-creation of Black Girls RUN!, a grassroots organization that encourages and inspires African-American women to live a healthy lifestyle. While currently serving at the helm of Black Girls RUN! and she is also a freelance writer for Zelle (a Runner’s World publication) .
She has been named one of the “30 Black Bloggers You Should Know” by The Root, Essence Magazine’s “35 Under 35: Young Black and Amazing Women,” and recently received Toyota’s Standing O-Vation Award presented at Oprah’s 2014 “The Life You Want” Weekend in Atlanta.
She currently calls Atlanta home pursuing her mantra of, “Do What You Love. Love What You Do.”
