Jovane Marie is a Marine Corps veteran, journalist, speaker, model and entrepreneur. She also serves as the veteran advocate and a contributing writer for U.S. Veterans Magazine, one of the fastest growing veteran-focused publications in the country.
The granddaughter of two Vietnam veterans, daughter of a proud Army veteran and cousin and niece to a host of Marines, soldiers, airmen and sailors, Jovane is the product of a long military legacy. She joined the Marine Corps in 2008 after modeling professionally and teaching runway in Tokyo, Japan. While on active duty, she deployed to multiple locations, covering various multinational exercises and humanitarian missions in Japan, Thailand and the Philippines.
In April 2013, after realizing that there was a lot of negative and disheartening press surrounding veterans, Jovane was led to create the Vet View talk show as a platform to focus on the successes of America’s heroes. Since its first broadcast, the show has gained a faithful subscriber base and thousands of views on its YouTube channel.
She serves as the Chief Innovation Officer for POWERHOUSE, a unique women veteran support organization she co-founded with fellow veterans Denika Mafnas (USAF) and Toni Brooks (USA). Utilizing their collective experiences in the fashion industry, they are on a mission to “encourage, enhance and empower women veterans to become their best selves through self-reflection, personal development, transformative thinking and full beauty makeovers”.
A compelling speaker, Jovane has shared her voice with audiences ranging from seven people to more than 2,000. She is a proud member of the American Legion, AMVETS, Veterans in Film and Television, the Marine Corps Combat Correspondent’s Association, Marine Corps Association & Foundation, Noncommissioned Officers Association, National Association for Black Military Women, and the Women Marines Association, and is a V-WISE (Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship) graduate, as well as a Pin Ups for Vets Ambassador.
Jovane is currently working on her first book, You Better S.T.R.U.T.: 5 Steps to Working It and Owning You!, which empowers women worldwide- especially her fellow sister veterans- to own their flaws and strut through life with the confidence of a supermodel and the fierceness of a warrior.
