D’Oyley’s fashion sense became apparent at an early age, when he would interior decorate his mothers home this was the beginning of him designing and creating, thus opening various avenues of expression of how he actually felt. “Having so much creativity, this was one of the ways that I was able to express my inner most feelings like conveying my story.” Says D’Oyley “ I am literally seeing myself in a movie, I see things as a story. So when I am creating my designs or styling for clients It is actually me just bringing the scene to life. In my mind I am playing out the movie just how it occurred.”
With all of his creative genius, one would think that D’Oyley attended fashion school, but he actually started pursuing music while desiring to become one of the next top R&B artists to hit the major market, D’Oyley was also exploring his other talent of becoming a top in demand choreographer for mainstream artists as well. Excelling in both genres just wasn’t enough for his creative mind, D’Oyley began tapping into his creative desires of fashion, before long he found himself styling for celebrity clients from reality television to major artists gracing the covers of some of the top magazines. D’Oyley began to immerse himself into fashion and design, he began teaching himself about colors, prints and fabrics through different magazines, music videos and the red carpets at various award shows.
He decided to express himself even more with creating his own men’s line. The first of many collections, drawing on the inspiration of the Classic American Style and Modern elements that he has become known for which he calls “Modern American Prep. His unique sense of style and innovative mind has afforded him the knowledge of understanding just how the right details, craftsmanship and presentation are of the utmost importance for the Andrew D’Oyley brand and relative to what men’s fashion needs more of.
“My favorite thing about styling and designing is the ability to bring out the light in someone,” he says. “You can take someone on their worst day and transform them by putting them in the right garment.”Starting with a t-shirt, D’Oyley slowly began creating a full ready-to-wear Mens collection. “I use fashion as a voice,” he says. “It’s a way of saying what is on my mind without having to verbalize anything. I realized that you could learn a lot about people based on what they chose to wear.”
“I love what I do and I am passionate about it, I wake up every day proud and happy and ready to do it all over again.”
