“I am Regina Curry SPlan coordinator for the Center for Black Studies and this semester has allowed us to stay true to our theme of “lifting as we Climb” John Hendrix Clarke has raised health consciousness throughout the month of October with volunteer work and the Breast cancer march, SPlan has served 50 mentees with 50 dedicated mentors, The talent tenth hosted over 70 high School students for an overnight visit. December will end our academic year with a collective celebration for Kwanza with each African American group sharing a principle. My hobbies are spending time with family, reading and walking.”
The Success and Succeed Plan (S-Plan) is a program founded by the Center for Black Studies with the goal of paring upper-level African American students with incoming students in the same major to help in the transition and completion of college. Our vision is to facilitate graduation for all participants. “We Lift as We Climb.”
The S-Plan Peer Mentor Program’s mission is to:
- Provide a peer mentor to serve as a mentor and a friend;
- Provide a peer mentor to assist in navigating the bureaucracy of the institution; and
- Assist students in their successful completion of college and graduation.
