Val is an amazing woman with a beautiful heart. She is the program supervisor for the Burckle Place in Palm Beach County Florida. Val is dedicated to empowering homeless women who have fallen through the cracks because they are ineligible for transitional housing. She is dedicated to assisting each woman to gain self-awareness, education, and support necessary to achieve her independence.
Formerly the Executive Director of the PACE Center for Girls and then the Program Director for the Mental Health Association of PBC, Val joined the Lord’s Place in March of 2013. As the Program Supervisor of Burckle Place, Val developed and implements programing to the 10 single homeless women that reside within the home. Developed as a leadership academy, the women attend classes that address the whole women. Some of the classes such as yoga, meditation, nutrition address the mind, body and spirit of the women while classes in computer skills, literacy and financial stability assist in their readiness for sustainable employment.
A donor funded program all classes, workshops and presentations are community volunteer based. Funding is provided by private donations receiving no state or federal dollars, allowing the program to meet the individual needs of the women. Val is also the President and founder of the Goddess Within 1 club that is empowerment and educationally based in the Western Communities. She has three children and a very supportive husband.
