Cedric Ceballos is no stranger to the world of sports and entertainment. Born August 2, in Maui, Hawaii, Cedric is a former NBA All-Star who has played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, later completing his on-the-court play with the Dallas Mavericks, the Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat. In his early childhood days in Los Angeles, California, Cedric attended Dominguez High School, Ventura College and, later, Cal State Fullerton.
Before he found his gift on the courts of basketball, Cedric found his love in the universal language of music and in spinning long playing records as a DJ. At the age of 12, Cedric knew that he was destined to do more than play basketball. Consequently, he has refined both the skills mastered in his sport and his voice as he has deejayed across the country, providing entertainment to many charity and celebrity events. His charity works spans from the Boys & Girls Club to the Matt Leinert Foundation and to a host of Phoenix Suns Charities.
During Cedric’s basketball career he was named All-American at the junior college and Cal State levels. Inducted into the Ventura College Hall of Fame, Cedric later was honored as his #31 jersey was retired at both Ventura College and Cal State Fullerton, respectively. His NBA experience has brought many highlights: his becoming an NBA All-Star; scoring a 50-point game; and his winning the 1992 NBA Slam Dunk Contest with a blind-folded dunk. In 1996, he was named the Comeback Player of the Year.
Cedric’s smooth voice and personality has taken him to a gamut of cities and stations—Morning Show Host, MEGA 104.3 FM (Phoenix); Power 98.3 FM (Phoenix); K 104 FM (Dallas); Power 106 FM (Los Angeles); KR&B 103.9 FM (Dallas). He has hosted the video show “Studio 23” (Dallas). In the early ‘90s, Cedric ventured into the music studio creating an album featuring friends from the NBA and hip-hop star Warren G on “Flow On.” Cedric’s talents have led him to the silver screen, where he has appeared on Living Single, Space Jam, and Eddie, just to name a few.
Since basketball, Cedric is busy off the court in the worlds of entertainment and philanthropy. Currently, he is the host of radio show “Rebound Radio” with the Retired Players Association, co-host NBA Talk on Fox Sports Radio in California and on line every Monday also DJ’s for Sirius/XM on Foxxhole Radio every Friday with The Mid-Day Mixx and every Saturday with The Sat. Night Mix. Cedric often travels throughout the U.S. and overseas as a motivational speaker to charitable organizations, fundraisers, youth camps, Fortune 500 companies, and at children’s detention centers. As an active family man, he makes time for others. “You can’t receive unless you give back. I have a big heart, and I believe freely ye give, freely ye receive.” Indeed, this is the motto he lives by.
