Attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner may be a mother of six, including triplets, but she is also the world’s leading civil rights “billion dollar” lawyer.
Under her leadership, the Tel Aviv-based Shurat HaDin – Israel Law Center has succeeded in winning over $1 billion in judgments, freezing more than
$600 million in terrorist assets and in collecting $120 million in actual payments to terror victims and their families.
Shurat HaDin-Israel Law Center is a civil rights organization, with offices in New York and Tel Aviv, which targets terrorist organizations and the regimes that support them through lawsuits litigated in courtrooms around the world. Established in 2003 by Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, Shurat HaDin works together with western intelligence agencies and volunteer lawyers around the world to file legal actions on behalf of victims of terror.
Shurat HaDin seeks to bankrupt the terror groups and grind their criminal activities to a halt – one lawsuit at a time. The center represents hundreds of terror victims in lawsuits and legal actions against Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbullah, Iran, Syria, Egypt, North Korea, UBS, The Arab Bank, Bank of China, and LCB. These cases are being litigated in the Israeli, American, Canadian and European courts.
Just recently, the non-profit organization Darshan-Leitner directs filed suit against the Warwick Hotel hosting the Iranian leader during his NY United Nations trip, arguing that all revenue received should be passed on to its terror victim plaintiff. We also have other cases against Iran, North Korea, and Syria, as well as against companies and banks, most relevant to events currently making headlines.
She should be recognized because she is a hard worker, a fighter, a leader, and one which cares deeply for bringing victims of terrorism justice, and for pushing to bring terrorists to justice. She is a graduate of the Bar-Ilan University Law Faculty and holds an MBA from Manchester University. She regularly appears in the media including Israeli talk show programs, Voice of Israel radio, CNN, the BBC, European television, the Jerusalem
Report and many American, Canadian and European publications. Shurat HaDin –
Israel Law Center is a fully independent non-profit organization, unaffiliated with any political party or governmental body.
In October 2011, Attorney Darshan-Leitner was named by Globes, Israel’s
