Today’s Honoree is Ray Williams

Since 2007, Mirror Image has provided over 360 children in the Adamsville community with leadership and action on how to make healthier lifestyle choices.  Through a customized urban agriculture-based mentoring program, Mirror Image provides after school tutoring, mentoring and recreational programs centered around S.T.E.M that teach youth the 5-step goods production process, business management and computer training skills.  Our programs have been made possible through Ray Williams and “Friends”, now we need the generous donations of community leaders like you.

Last year, the community helped Mirror Image launch a mentoring program as an afterschool and Saturday program at Adamsville Elementary School.  We worked with young men throughout the school year to teach etiquette classes and provided instruction on how to plant an organic garden on school property.  Mirror Image also conducted the first urban agriculture-based summer program where students planted an urban garden at Adamsville Elementary.

The Mirror Image summer program was added to the City of Atlanta’s 2009 Camp Best Friends “Jumpstart Health and Wellness Initiative” at the Adamsville Recreation Center.  In its second year, students tended the garden and consumed the fruit and produce they grew.  Without your generosity and support, none of this would have been possible.

This year, our goal is to raise funds for the “Mirror Image” mentoring program and  for the NEXT Steps Youth Entrepreneur Training Program; and for three neighborhood farm stands to be placed throughout the Adamsville/NPU H community. Our more a aggressive goals include cultivating 20 acres of land in the community, along with other abandoned, vacant or brownsfield properties. The purpose is to grow fresh fruits and produce using

hydroponics and other agricultural technologies in hopes of increasing the health awareness, water, air, reduce carbon footprint and land quality of our environment. hydroponics and other agricultural technologies in hopes of increasing the health awareness, water, air, reduce carbon footprint and land quality of our environment.

Studies have shown that children who live healthier lifestyles are more likely to succeed as adults.  We hope to give our children this advantage in life as we try to reach our fundraising goals.  We would appreciate any help you can provide.
