Today’s Honoree is Kathy Picard

Kathy Picard is an award winning child safety advocate. She is a recipient of the 2006 Unsung Heroine of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women and has received a Governor’s Citation from Governor Deval Patrick in 2008. On May 25, 2010 was honored at the State House in Boston by Magi and John Bish for the Massachusetts Missing Children’s Day Award along with a State Senate Citation from Senator Gale Candaras.

Kathy is a survivor of child sexual abuse and is a speaker working to raise the awareness in all areas of child safety. She has spoken at Westfield State College in March 2007, Westfield State University April 2011, Asnuntuck Community College, Holyoke Community College and the Zonta Club of Quaboag Valley, in addition to various local correctional facilities to inmates and libraries. She continues to speak at local police academies to future law officers.

Kathy’s story has been shared with Story Corps and archived at the American Folk life Center at the Library of Congress. On WHYN AM with Brad Shepard. Joanie Winberg Happy Wednesday Talk Show, which is an inspirational midweek boost show to make Wednesday a power day. This show broadcasts to 20 countries. Fall of 2009 Kathy’s story was featured in Western Mass Women Magazine along with other local newspapers. A
guest speaker April 2011 with Jon Lieberman. (www.cyberstationusa.com). Jon
Leiberman was Correspondent/Producer of American’s Most Wanted TV Show with
John Walsh. Did a Skype Video with Track180, a higher degree of news.  (www.track180.com)
