Auburn High School Basketball Coach Frank Tolbert is Today’s Honoree

CoachTolbertLongtime and current Auburn High School Basketball coach Frank Tolbert is in his 30th year as the boys basketball coach at Auburn – has led the Tigers to a state championship (2005), two state runner up finishes, six Final Four appearances and 12 area tournament titles. He has also won 11 different regular-season tournaments.

He’s complied a 672-333 record as a basketball coach (.669 winning percentage) – averaging more than 21 wins per year – and a 532-265 record as Auburn’s boys coach. Tolbert went 30-8 in two years as the Tigers’ girls basketball coach (1978-80).

He has also served Auburn as a football coach (1970-94), wrestling coach (1973-76) and girls track coach (1983-87), winning a state track title in 1986.

Auburn High’s varsity sporting teams have won 40 team state championships, and the Auburn High School Band has been rated one of the top high school concert band programs in the United States, winning the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Flag of Honor in 1987.
